About Cà San Giorgio

Housed in a charmingly restored gothic convent, the Cá San Giorgio is a boutique B&B situated right on the Grand Canal. Just 10 minutes’ walk from Santa Lucia, it’s ideal for guests arriving by train.

The rooms are small, but feature lovely wooden beams and thoroughly modern bathrooms. There is air conditioning for those sweltering days, and satellite TV in the unlikely event that Venice doesn’t compel you to spend every moment exploring.

There is free Wi-Fi throughout the B&B.

Breakfast is served on-site, but for other meals the neighbourhood bacari and ristorante beckon. The staff will be more than happy to offer their personal recommendations.

Being on the Grand Canal, it’s easy to get a vaporetto from Cá San Giorgio to St Mark’s Square. Or for those who like to stroll through the romantic streets, the Rialto Bridge is just 10 minutes’ walk away.

Positive Reviews

In true local neighbourhood

While this is a fairly common claim made by Venetian B&B's, many guests confirm that they did indeed feel that the immediate neighbourhood was about as “local” as you can get in Venice. They loved the fact that they could walk around the streets, and go to the wine bars and restaurants, and not feel that they were completely inundated with other tourists.

Terrific breakfast

Many guests who come to expect the worst, based on their experience in many European hotels, comment that the breakfast at Cá San Giorgio is both plentiful and tasty, with a mean cappuccino thrown in for good measure.

Hosts gave great local suggestions

Several guests mention that the hosts, Maria and Alberto, gave restaurant and bar recommendations that turned out to be just what they were hoping for.

Negative Reviews

Difficult to find

Negative reviews of Cá San Giorgio are very, very thin on the ground. One of the few comments is that it is difficult to find, but guests concede that this applies to almost any hotel in Venice, and in its own way adds to the charm.

Rooms very small

While they concede that this is not at all unusual in Venice, a couple of guests commented that their room was a bit smaller than they had hoped for. If available, guests could consider booking one of the larger suites. The one at the very top even has its own roof terrace.

Some rooms may need an update

While this was not a common complaint at all, a couple of guests did mention that the décor in their room could do with a bit of an update.
