Positive Reviews

Good location.

This hotel places you in a good location whether you want to explore the various towns in the Lake District or spend time along the Solway Coast. It’s secluded but that suits many guests.

Excellent rooms.

You’ll find the rooms at this hotel offer a good standard of accommodation. Like many hotels in the chain, they are a little on the basic side but comfortable nonetheless. The rooms are spotlessly clean and include a thoughtful selection of amenities.

Restaurant serves good quality food.

Guests comment favourably about the standard of the food served at the Howgate pub/restaurant. Breakfast and other meals are generally of a high standard. By all accounts, it gets fairly busy so it’s worth booking your table in advance.

A little too remote for some.

While the secluded setting of this hotel certainly appealed to some guests, others found it a little too out of the way. The nearest shops and restaurants are at least three miles away, so you’ll need a car to get around unless you fancy a fairly long wal
