Gorgeous views from the property

Of course it was the views over Lake Windermere that guests most appreciated. They were described as simply sublime, and left guests in no doubt that they had arrived in one of the prettiest spots in England.

Friendly and cheerful staff

Again and again guests mentioned how genuinely friendly the staff were. They seemed to take a real interest in their guest's well-being and tended to carry out there duties in a cheerful, but still professional, way.

Truly exceptional food

While there were inevitably one or two contrary opinions, the overwhelming majority of guests thought very highly of the food offered at the restaurant. Breakfast was judged excellent, but it was at dinner that they really seemed to excel. Guests described incredible culinary creations being presented that not only looked spectacular, but were delicious too.

Negative Reviews

Access from road a but awkward

A couple of guests mentioned that the access to the property was quite difficult. It was said that it was difficult to see oncoming traffic, and a few considered it a bit dangerous.

Rooms a bit warm

A surprising number of guests travelling in winter mentioned that their room was much too warm on arrival, necessitating various techniques to get the temperature down a little bit.

No real activities on offer

While the hotel does not bill itself as an activity centre, some guests did feel that it was simply a hotel in a great spot, not making the most of its position. It was mentioned that organised activities on the lake would have been greatly appreciated.
